Alistair Kerr was born in Scotland and studied History and Law at Edinburgh University. After graduation he became a civil servant. He has lived, worked and travelled in a number of countries, including Kenya, Zimbabwe, France and Australia. He now divides his time mainly between Scotland, Lincolnshire and London.

 

His law studies included Forensic Medicine. One of his ancestors was accused of complicity in murder in the seventeenth century and he is distantly related to the notorious murderer Dr Buck Ruxton, who was hanged in 1936. Unsurprisingly, he has an interest in murder mysteries.
